Dr. Arnd Haller is a Senior Legal Director at Google, where he has served as the Head of Legal for Google Germany since 2005. Based in Hamburg, he oversees Google’s legal operations in Northern and Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Nordics, CEE, Ireland and the UK). He is a member of the local management team and leads a legal department of approximately 30 professionals.
His practice focuses on high-stakes regulatory environments, specifically AI, Internet law, IP/IT, data protection, and antitrust. Dr. Haller is currently at the forefront of navigating the European Union’s shifting digital landscape, managing compliance for landmark EU legislation. He is a proponent of responsible AI development, integrating AI tools like into legal workflows to enhance team efficiency.
Before joining Google, Dr. Haller practiced as an IP/IT attorney at Taylor Wessing (2002–2005). He holds a doctorate in law from the University of Münster and completed international clerkships in La Paz and New York. He is a recognised thought leader, serving on boards and advisory committees such as the Max Planck Institute, the DGRI, DIHK Legal Committee, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and the kids literature association fragFINN.de.
