Brittany Miao

Group General Counsel
Dragon Plus
Singapore

Miao began her legal career the way many corporate lawyers do – trained to think with precision, caution, and a constant awareness of risk. Three years at a Hong Kong firm advising on cross-border M&A added a more practical insight: closing deals ultimately depends on finding alignment among competing interests. It is an approach that continues to shape her work.

Hong Kong provided intensity early on – complex mandates, demanding clients, and a pace that accelerated her development. One year there felt like two elsewhere.

She carried that foundation into China’s fast-growing tech sector, joining IM30 – a multinational game developer and publisher behind titles such as Last Shelter: Survival, Rise of Castles, and Last Fortress, and ranked among App Annie (now data.ai)’s Global Top 52 Publishers. Miao was initially a Legal Manager and later became Group General Counsel.

Over four years, she managed the full legal lifecycle of the company’s global game portfolio. Her remit spanned payment service structuring and compliance, SaaS-related legal work, and regulatory matters across the US, EU, and APAC. She also led high-profile IP collaborations with major entertainment franchises, including The Walking Dead and The Boys. In Vietnam, she spearheaded the team that secured game licences, establishing a repeatable framework that became the company’s template for subsequent market entries. These transactions required simultaneous management of internal approvals, multi-jurisdictional regulatory issues, counterparty negotiations, and rights structuring – where legal and commercial considerations were tightly intertwined.

From August 2022, she took on a concurrent role as Business Development Director, managing the company’s App Store partnership and securing multiple editorial feature placements that materially increased title visibility.

She now serves as Group General Counsel at DragonPlus Games and its affiliates, where her scope continues to expand: leading a cross-border legal team, handling high-stakes US disputes, overseeing corporate governance, integrating AI into legal workflows, and supporting business development across payments and cloud services.

Miao is dual-qualified in California (US) and China, and is a native Mandarin speaker, fluent in English, and conversational in Cantonese, with full proficiency in both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
