Marcus Heppner is a leading global legal executive in M&A and strategic licensing, with over 25 years of experience advising boards and executive leadership teams in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. As Head of Global BD&L / M&A Legal at STADA Arzneimittel AG, he is a key architect of international deal origination and execution, supporting high‑value acquisitions, licensing transactions, and complex partnerships worldwide.

Previously, Marcus held senior leadership positions including General Counsel / Senior Vice President Global Legal at Grünenthal, Regional General Counsel EuMEA at Nufarm, and Senior Corporate Counsel and M&A Team Lead at Merck KGaA.

Marcus is widely recognised for his strategic mindset, deal execution excellence, and ability to translate complex legal and regulatory risk into business‑critical decisions. He is known for combining rigorous governance with pragmatic commercial judgment, and for the disciplined, resource‑efficient use of best‑in‑class external counsel in high‑stakes transactions.

He holds the German State Law Degrees and completed an INSEAD Executive Program.
