Law is never just read and known – it has to be interpreted, provision against provision, until a workable answer emerges. Twenty years of leading legal and compliance functions have convinced me that judgment, not just knowledge, is what makes a legal leader worth following.
I currently lead the Legal & Compliance function for HELLA FORVIA Romania.
What shapes my approach isn’t only the legal background. My dissertation in philosophy was in business ethics – how to analyse and verify decisions from an ethical standpoint using methods that are practical, not just theoretical. My studies in psychology taught me a great deal about human nature and helped me develop the emotional intelligence that makes me considerably more composed in negotiations and more able to lead and motivate a team. I’m also genuinely curious about where this profession is heading.
