Steve Dempsey is General Counsel of Amalgamated Metal Corporation (AMC), a global corporate group operating across non-ferrous metals production and recycling, commodity trading and financial services. Since joining AMC in 2019, Steve has established and developed the Group’s in-house legal function, advising the Board and leading major strategic, corporate, financing and regulatory matters. Steve was shortlisted for General Counsel of the Year at the British Legal Awards 2025.
Steve also serves as MLRO and Nominated Officer of FCA-regulated Amalgamated Metal Trading and AMT Futures, Secretary to the AMC Group’s defined benefit pension scheme and a founding Trustee of the AMC Financial Hardship Foundation. Steve is also Chairman of Unseen Tours, a not-for-profit social enterprise focussed on providing support and meaningful opportunities for individuals who have experienced homelessness, alongside other forms of discrimination and marginalisation, in Greater London.
