Romania’s in-house legal profession is home to an impressive community of leaders whose expertise, judgment and influence help shape the organisations they serve. From multinational businesses to leading Romanian companies, these professionals operate at the intersection of law, business and leadership, often making their greatest contributions away from the spotlight.

GC Elite Leaders Romania 2026 celebrates 100 outstanding General Counsel and senior in-house legal professionals, alongside 10 Emerging Leaders who represent the future of the profession.

The inaugural edition is the culmination of an extensive research programme that identified more than 300 General Counsel and senior in-house legal professionals across Romania. Through peer recommendations, market research and independent assessment, GC Elite sought to identify individuals who have made a meaningful contribution to their organisations and earned the confidence and respect of the wider legal community.

What makes Romania’s in-house legal community particularly interesting is its diversity. The individuals recognised work across different industries, organisational structures and areas of responsibility. Some lead large legal departments, while others operate with smaller teams and equally demanding responsibilities. Their career paths and professional experiences may differ, but each demonstrates the qualities that distinguish effective in-house legal leadership.

This inaugural edition also places particular importance on recognising emerging talent. By celebrating established leaders alongside those shaping the next generation, GC Elite Leaders Romania reflects both the achievements of today’s profession and its potential for the future.

Celebrating Romania’s legal leadership

On 22 October 2026, GC Elite brought together many of the recognised leaders for an exclusive reception at the InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest. The evening provided an opportunity to celebrate individual achievements, reconnect with colleagues and strengthen relationships across Romania’s in-house legal community.

Guests heard from Alina Dumitrascu, Head of Legal & Corporate Affairs at PPC Romania, and Gabriela Popescu, General Manager at Microsoft Romania, Moldova & CIS, who shared their perspectives on leadership and the evolving relationship between legal expertise and business success.

The evening also featured Miruna Suciu, Managing Partner of Suciu Partners, whose firm served as Exclusive Country Partner for GC Elite Leaders Romania 2026.

Suciu Partners played an important role in bringing the inaugural programme to Romania, supporting our shared ambition to recognise the achievements of the country’s in-house legal profession and create new opportunities for its members to connect. We are grateful to Miruna and her colleagues for their commitment, enthusiasm and partnership throughout the programme.

The reception also provided an opportunity to acknowledge Crina Ciobanu, Head of Legal and Business Affairs at PORR România, whose encouragement and support were instrumental in bringing GC Elite Leaders to Romania. Crina received a special GC Elite Ambassador Award in recognition of her contribution.

The enthusiasm and sense of community demonstrated throughout the evening reinforced something we believe strongly: Romania’s in-house legal profession deserves greater visibility, stronger connections and a platform through which its achievements can be celebrated.
